El Pazo de Oca Valladares, que hoy en día acoge el Liceo Recreo de Ourense, es uno de los más importantes palacios gótico-renacentistas de Galicia y data de mediados del siglo XVI. Tiene una fachada de dos plantas con cinco escudos de armas de diferentes linajes gallegos en el balcón central, que se repiten en el patio interior de columnas y en la fuente de mármol de Carrara de dicho patio. Desde 1850 es sede del Liceo Recreo Orensano.
En el verano de 2012 se completaron las obras de restauración de este Bien de Interés Cultural, que dieron comienzo en mayo de ese año. Consistieron en el acondicionamiento de los espacios relativos al patio de columnas y el salón noble del Liceo, uno de los puntos más simbólicos del edificio.
En dichas zonas, se recuperó el zócalo de madera preexistente, fueron pintados los paramentos horizontales y verticales del escenario y en el resto se realizó un revestimiento. También se limpió y se hizo el empastado y pintado del falso techo. Por otro lado, se sustituyeron las carpinterías que dan acceso a la terraza y fue instalado un carril eléctrico en el escenario.
En una de sus visitas durante la rehabilitación, el conselleiro de Cultura, Educación y Ordenación Universitaria, Xesús Vázquez Abad, explicó que esta rehabilitación era "una demostración más de nuestra preocupación por mantener nuestro patrimonio que no podemos olvidar que es parte de nuestra historia y así queremos que lo siga siendo".

The Oca-Valladares Palace, which today hosts the Liceo Recreo of Orense, is one of the most important gothic-renacentist palaces of Galicia and dates back to the mid-16th century. It has a two-floor façade with five coats of arms of different Galician lineages in the central balcony, which are repeated in the inner courtyard of columns and in the marble-of-Carrara fountain. Since 1850 it is seat of the Liceo Recreo Orensano.
The restoration works of this Asset of Cultural Interest, which began in May of 2012, were completed in the summer of that year. They consisted of the conditioning of the spaces on the courtyard of columns and the noble hall of the school, one of the most symbolic points of the building.
In these areas, it was recovered the pre-existing wood skirting board, the horizontal and vertical walls of the stage were painted and the rest had a new facing. It was also cleaned and the false ceiling was filled and painted. On the other hand, the woodwork that give access to the terrace was replaced and an electric rail was installed on the stage.
In one of his visits during the restoration, the regional Minister of Culture, Education and University Planning, Xesús Vázquez Abad, explained that this restoration was "one demostration of our concerns to maintain our heritage and we must not forget that it is part of our history and thus want to it remain".
