La fachada es el paramento exterior de un edificio que cumple con funciones tanto estéticas como funcionales, actuando como aislante térmico y acústico e impidiendo la entrada de agua.
Las fachadas convencionales suelen contar con una hoja exterior (generalmente de ladrillo) y con una hoja interior. Entre ambas hojas se instala un aislante térmico con una pequeña separación para que el vapor de agua pueda ventilarse.
